All of our sets and gigs are then live streamed globally via internet radio. We average 8,000 listeners a month, (a number that is constantly growing), ensuring that your event gets maximum exposure.
A Little Urban Warfare History
In 1997 a group of like-minded people held parties across London under the banner Corrupt Inc. In 1998 they obtained their first sound system and Urban Warfare family was born.
In 2002 Urban Warfare amicably split. Half of the sound system travelled halfway across the world to organise parties on a small island called Koh Lanta in Krabi, Thailand and then later in Bangkok. The remaining members continued running events in London and across the UK, calling themselves Back to Bassics.
Thirteen years later and nearly all the original members are back in the UK. Together we have built this website as a platform to share our experiences with the general public, thus allowing them an insight into our legendary party scene legacy. Furthermore, we are proud to proclaim that the crew has reformed and are back to take the UK by storm!
THE MEANING BEHIND THE NAME
To some, the name Urban Warfare conjures up images of aggression and rebellion. In fact, this could not be farther from the truth. ‘Urban’ simply stands for the streets of UK that our parties see so much of, and ‘Warfare’ stands for our uncompromising dedication to the scene and the sheer noise that we bring along with us wherever we go. All our parties are held in a safe and friendly environment for everyone. Our music and bass might be heavy, dark and twisted but our attitudes are welcoming, caring and accepting of anyone who wants to have a good time.
URBAN WARFARE MUSIC
Urban Warfare used to only play Jungle, Drum & Bass and Old Skool, but as times change and musical trends and tastes progress, so must we. Urban Warfare now covers a wide spectrum of musical genres including Breakbeat, Dubstep, Garage, Glitch Hop, Hardcore, House, Jungle, Drum & Bass, Old Skool, Trap, Hip Hop, Reggae and Dub.
‘Working together to keep the vibe alive’
We are constantly looking for ways to increase our exposure and develop new partnerships and collaborations. We aim to build a friendly network of similarly-minded people. We host regular 2-hour Urban Warfare slots on radio stations including Barricade radio (www.barricaderadio.com) Future Pressure Radio (https://www.internet-radio.com/station/futurepressureradio/) and Bass Junkees Radio. All of our live events are lived streamed via these radio stations so that everyone can be part of the show no matter where they are in the world.
Barricade radio broadcasts alternative dance music 24/7, from Funk, Soul, and Hip-Hop to Drum & Bass and Deep House to Post-Punk and even Blues. You’ll even find some fantastic Indie thrown in for good measure. It was formed in 2012 as an alternative to narrow-minded radio stations, and caters for those who love their music regardless of the genre.
Future Pressure is an internet radio station playing homegrown, upfront and classic Drum & Bass, streamed live from studios across the globe by passionate DJs with a professional attitude. In addition, they cater for the entire spectrum of the underground rave scene going right back to the Jungle and Hardcore roots of the Old Skool era. Listeners can tune in to experience regularly hosted shows, available on any platform on any device at 192k stereo streams (and 96k for mobile users) broadcasted directly from their powerful servers located in Germany.
Bass Junkees Radio is a station catering for all your underground needs, injecting the buzz 24 hours a day. They’re a friendly bunch of addicts with live shows throughout the day, every day encompassing a variety of Rave culture genres including many sub-styles.
